Thank you for your support of the campaigns that culminated in the beautifully renovated “new” Uhuru House. The Uhuru Movement is always moving forward. Now, we have to complete the next phase.

In these critical times we must ensure longterm sustainability for the St. Petersburg Uhuru House, the international center of campaigns for liberation, justice and
economic development for African people throughout the U.S., Africa and the world.

While the building was fully paid for, the renovations incurred a new mortgage. And while the renovations provided the infrastructure for programs to benefi t the community, they now need the equipment to make them fully functional. Our goals now are to:

• Complete full payment of the renovation mortgage.
  Solar retrofi t the building to use the sun for 75% of energy needs.
• Equip the Uhuru House for economic development by providing a training program of “green” skills and outfi tting the recording studio, community kitchen, auditorium and Uhuru Radio.

In the Uhuru Movement we understand that it is not just about “green,” but the struggle for Red, Black and Green. Sustainability will only come through self-determination and control of African resources to benefit African people ourselves.

Known as the “Embassy for the African world,” the St. Petersburg Uhuru House is home to the African People’s Socialist Party. It functions as a vital and unique community center both locally and internationally, transforming the lives and addressing the needs facing African people everywhere.

The Uhuru House has been a key African community hub for:

• Tribunals, justice hearings and Town Hall meetings.
• The worldwide movement for reparations to the African community.
• The struggle for community control of education and housing.
• Building African community health, fitness, youth and cultural programs.
• Building African working class organizations.
• Burning Spear Media.

Now, more than ever, supporting the St. Petersburg Uhuru House will benefi t our international African community as a whole. We call on you to continue supporting the Uhuru House now and in the future.
