Bringing Fun, Entertainment and Education to the Community!

Uhuru Halloween Haunted Night

Every year Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles in both Oakland and Philadelphia celebrate Martin Luther King’s birthday with a well attended education and cultural program and community volunteer project for all ages.

The program features live music, historic films of the struggle for African freedom in the 1950’s and 60’s and presentations by APEDF leaders who explain how this organization carries on the legacy of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X today. There is a dynamic open mic discussion with all the volunteers.

Then fifty or more volunteers distribute thousands of pieces of literature throughout our cities to get the word out about APEDF and Uhuru Furniture and call on others to participate in genuine community solutions by donating, volunteering, and shopping at Uhuru Furniture to support the APEDF programs for African economic development and self-determination. When the volunteers return we treat them to lunch and have more entertainment, prizes and discussion.
